Free self-assessment
Portfolio health check
The portfolio health check is a free agile portfolio assessment from StudioBE: 10 questions, about two minutes, that score how your organization chooses, plans, delivers, and learns from its work against the four PPM4Agile practices, then name the one change likely to help most.
Private by design: scoring runs in your browser and no answer is sent anywhere. No email or sign-up.

What it asks
The 10 questions
Two questions for each PPM4Agile practice and two about what leadership sees. Each has four answers, from the weakest pattern to the strongest.
Align
- 1When a new request arrives after the portfolio has been agreed, what happens?
- 2When two initiatives compete for the same people, how is it decided which goes first?
Focus
- 3When an approved project is planned, how clear is the first slice you will actually deliver?
- 4Before a delivery date is committed, how is the plan checked against the people who will do the work?
Deliver
- 5How many items does a typical team have in progress at once?
- 6When work is blocked by another team, how long does it usually stay blocked?
Learn
- 7How do you know whether a finished initiative delivered what it promised?
- 8When did you last scale, sustain, or retire something because of evidence?
Leadership
- 9What do the status reports leadership sees mostly describe?
- 10Could a team lead explain why their current work matters to the strategy?
How the score works
Each of the ten questions has four answers, scored from 0 for the weakest pattern to 3 for the strongest, so the total runs from 0 to 30 and is shown as a score out of 100. Two questions cover each PPM4Agile practice, Align, Focus, Deliver, and Learn, and two cover leadership signals such as what status reports describe. The overall score places you in one of four bands: Firefighting below 35, Stabilizing from 35, Aligned from 60, and Compounding from 85. Each practice also gets its own score out of 6. The lowest-scoring practice becomes your biggest lever, the place where one change is likely to help most. Ties go to the practice earliest in the loop, because fixing what enters the portfolio relieves everything after it. The scoring is fixed and runs entirely in your browser, so the same answers always produce the same result.
- Firefighting0–34
- The portfolio is running you.
- Stabilizing35–59
- Some structure exists, but it does not hold under pressure.
- Aligned60–84
- Strategy and delivery mostly connect.
- Compounding85–100
- Each pass through the loop improves the next.
Frequently asked questions
Is the portfolio health check private?
Yes. The questions, the scoring, and the results all run in your browser, and nothing you choose is sent to StudioBE or anyone else. Answers in progress are saved in this browser's local storage so you can pick up where you left off; Retake clears them.
How accurate is a two-minute self-assessment?
It is directional, not an audit. Its job is to point at the practice worth fixing first. Answer for how the portfolio actually runs, not how the process document says it should, because self-assessments tend to run optimistic. Asking two or three colleagues to take it and comparing the results usually tells you more than any single score.
What should I do with my results?
Start with the first move on your biggest-lever card; each one is small enough to begin this week. Use Copy results to share the summary with your leadership team. If you would like help reading it, bring it to a 60-minute Portfolio Clarity Session.
Want a second opinion on your score?
Bring your results to a 60-minute Clarity Session and leave knowing what Eric thinks is going on and what fits next.
